It is decided to start a biological aging

Before puberty, the human body is actively maintained by the function of Ribosomal DNA, the genome, which is important for cell survival. However, its efficiency is declining during adulthood, activating the molecular mechanisms of aging. Researchers from Germany came to this conclusion. The results of the study were published in Aging-US magazine.

Scientists have analyzed blood samples of 280 people from birth to 180 years of birth. They rated two parameters, RDNA copies and their methylation level, chemical markers, which "turn off" genes. It turned out that the number of active (non-free) copies in children and adolescents does not decrease, but increases slightly. This means that cells in adolescence maintain RDNA function in "Young" condition.

Adults are observed in the opposite process. The number of active copies with age is decreasing, while the level of methylation increases. According to scientists, such changes serve as reliable biomarks of mobile aging.

"Our data show that the state of Active RDNA in the tissues of young people is maintained at the molecular level. This can be a part of the natural mechanism to maintain mobile youth, "said the authors.

The study also showed that RDNA changes are not related to children's developmental delays and therefore do not cause early pathologies.

The results confirm the idea that biological aging is not a continuous process, but a mechanism that is activated when the body is ready to replicate. Researchers note that this discovery can change the approach to combating aging. Instead of treating its consequences, scientists suggest focusing on strengthening mechanisms protecting cells from the youth.
