Denmark has proposed banning social networks for children under 15

The Danish authorities are planning to ban the use of social networks for children under 15, AFP reports.

Prime Minister Mette Fredericsen announced his initiative during his speech in the parliament. He did not specify which social networking platforms will be banned.

"Mobile phones and social networks take away our children's childhood," Fredericsen said.

He said the statistics show the seriousness of the problem. 60% of the boys from 11 to 19 in the country prefer to spend time at home than to meet with friends.

According to the proposed regulations, 13-year-old children will be able to use social networks, but only with the permission of the parents.

In September, the relevant committee of the French parliament concluded that children under the age of 15 should be prohibited from using social networks. These measures are necessary for children's security, against the background of self-harm and extremist content on social networks, the publication reports.
