Within the framework of the 15th Ancordia summit in New York, I met former Colombian President Ivan Duke. The Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matosyan stated this on his Facebook page.
During the meeting, we discussed the experience of the 16th conference of the Parties to the UN Biodiversity in 2024 and its applicability in the process of organizing and preparing for COP17 to be held in Yerevan in 2026.
We paid special attention to increasing the inclusion of the conference, with the effective involvement of civil society and non-governmental organizations, ensuring the participation of local communities and indigenous peoples, as well as strengthening transparency and accountability mechanisms.
We also discussed the next organizational and software steps through the exchange of experience, expert assistance and coordinated cooperation with partner structures.
We agreed to continue close cooperation, aiming to implement a conference with high international standards in accordance with high international standards, which will promote the world's efforts to protect biodiversity.
