Scientists have discovered that the "dance" of the mysterious particles changes the result of star mergers


The merger of neutron stars is one of the most powerful events in the universe, which are accompanied by bursts of gravitational waves, gamma radiation and the creation of severe elements. Physicists of Pennsylvania and Tennessee Universities have found that an unexpected player, neutrinoes, more accurately, to change their taste in these catastrophic processes. Neutrinos are elementary particles that are almost exclusively interacting with the material. These are three types: electronic, muon and tau neutrinos. According to the calculations, the transformation of e-neutrinos in the system changes the amount of free neutrons in the system, which directly affects the occurrence of heavy elements, gold, platinum and rare metals. Scientists estimate that taking into account the taste of neutrinos, their number can be ten.

Moreover, the transformations of neutrinos have affected the radiation characteristics found by Ligo, Virgo and Kagra, including gravitational waves.

"This will allow us to comment more accurately," David Radies, a co-author of the study, and Professor of the Aswhadzi University of Pennsylvania.

Scientists note that it is not yet clear where these modifications are taking place and what are their exact mechanisms. But it is already clear. Without taking into account the "Chemistry" without neutrinoes, it is impossible to build a complete picture of stellar disasters and understand where many valuable elements of the universe come from.
