US Secretary of State Marco Rubions met with Temporand President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in New York on Monday, the State Department's statement said.
According to the department, the parties discussed US priorities in Syria, including the fight against terrorism, finding missing Americans and the importance of Syria-Israeli relations for regional security.
"The Secretary of State stressed that Syria has the opportunity to build a stable and sovereign state after the historic decision to eliminate sanctions on the Syrian people against the Syrian people," said the US Diplomatic Department.
