A long day sleep can increase the risk of premature death. Scientists have found out

A long or highly changeable day sleep can significantly increase the risk of premature death. This conclusion was the scientists of Harvard Medical School. The results of the study were published in SLEEP magazine.

The researchers had analyzed the health information of 86,565 volunteers, the average age of which was 63. During the seven days, the participants suffered acityic bracelets, which have registered their movements and behavior during their sleep. The study focused on day sleep (from 9:00 to 19:00).

After collecting the sleeping data, the researchers started following the participants. During the 11 years, 5,189 participants have died, 6% of the total. The average day of sleep was 24 minutes. People with longer, more frequent or more variable day sleeps had a significantly higher risk of death.

In the study, sleep variability was set as a different time to sleep, as well as the habit of not preserving a stable sleep time.

"Data on the risks related to the day of the day contradict our current ideas about their benefits, so further research is needed," said Chi-Gaon, a co-author of the study.

The authors of the study also call on people to immediately apply to medical care if they feel strong drowsiness. Permanent fatigue or sleep disorders can also be signs of many medical problems, including depression, Parkinson's disease and iron deficiency anemia.
