The Lithuanian parliament has approved the new Prime Minister

At the meeting, the Lithuanian Parliament approved the candidacy of Former Social Security and Labor Minister, 44-year-old Inga Ruginene from the Lithuanian Social Security Council.

"127 members of the Seimi took part in the voting. 78 of them were "for", 35 were "against" and 14 abstained. "The decision to establish Ruginene to the Prime Minister (edition) was adopted," said the moderator of the meeting. The broadcast was broadcast by LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television) portal.

Ruginene was born in 1981 in Trauma. He received a bachelor's degree in the Faculty of Medical Faculty of Vilnius University and Master's degree in Kaunas Forestry and Environmental Engineering College. He worked as the Lithuanian branch of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Volunteer Red Cross.

Since 2014 he has been the President of the Lithuanian Forest and Forest Industry Workers' Union since 2018, the President of the Confederation of Lithuania, and since 2023, the Vice President of the Confederation of European Trade Unions since 2023. In October 2024, he was first elected a member of the Lithuanian Parliament, and from December, the Minister of Social Security and Labor.
