Karni. Canada and the EU are discussing new sanctions against Russia

The Canadian leadership discussed with EU counterparts the possibility of imposing new financial sanctions against Russia, except for the 19th package of restrictions developed by the European Union. The statement came from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Karni at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

"We discussed what other financial sanctions against Russia can be implemented, in addition to the 19th package of EU sanctions," he said.

At the same time, Karni stressed that in his opinion, the best step in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine will be between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelopeki. At the same time, the Prime Minister believes that the West, against the background of the negotiation process, must continue to put pressure on the Russian Federation and not stopped Ukraine's military support.

He reminded that about 3,000 individuals and legal entities are included in the Canadian sanctions lists. He also reaffirmed that Ottawa Kiev would provide an additional $ 1.45 billion to the supply of weapons, as well as for the development of the production of Ukrainian drones.
