The Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy has developed a draft decision on the qualification requirements for guides and escorts, training program, procedure, periodicity, terms, specialization.
It is noted that the field of activities of guides and escorts in Armenia is not currently regulated, there are no clear requirements, rules or control mechanisms. One of the problems facing the field is the possibility of unkinding activities of foreigners providing tourism services in Armenia. The latter, not fully performing information on Armenia and the Armenian tourism results, the customs and religious ceremonies, behavioral rules, cultural, archeological, architectural, historical and natural values, insurance and tourist services, and tourists present to Armenia incurable or distorted information.
International experience assures that the best way to ensure the quality of the services of guides and escorts is the settlement of the latter. In many countries, the activities of guides and escorts are licensed, in a number of countries, qualification, and attestation requirements.
There are many companies in Armenia that organize trainers training and retraining courses, awarding qualification certificates. However, we currently have no joint educational program, with minimal knowledge and skills. The three main qualification procedure is planned, simplified, accelerated and regular.
This approach will allow both experienced guides or beginners. The adoption of the project does not require the allocation of additional funds from the state budget.
The implementation will contribute to the increase in state budget revenues in accordance with the requirements of paragraphs 1 of Part 1 of Article 19.2 of Article 19.2 of the Law on State Duty.
