Japan is ready to discuss the possibility of buying more weapons from the United States to reduce its own trade with the United States, which angered US President Donald Trump. The Minister of Economic Restoration of Japan Ryose Akazava told reporters about this, which presents Tokyo in the talks.
"If you ask, can we discuss such an opportunity? I would say yes," Kyodo news agency quoted him as saying.
At the same time, the Akazavan stressed that the dialogue between Tokyo and Washington is separate from dialogue on security issues and is based on "completely different logic", so "it is wrong to mix these two issues."
Japan and the United States have already held three stages of negotiations on tariffs and trade policy. In early May, Akazavan stated that the parties are still far from reaching an agreement. However, after the third round, he said that Tokyo hopes to reach an agreement with Washington until the "G7 Group" (G7) summit, Alberta on June 15-17.
