Brazilian photographer Sebastian Salgado has died


The famous Brazilian documentary photographer Sebastian Salgado died at the age of 81.

This was reported by the Associated Press, citing a message issued by the TERRA Institute, founded by the photographer.

It is noted that the cause of his death became Leukemia.

According to the family's statement, Salgado was infected with malaria in 2010, working on his "Genesis" project. Fifteen years later, the complications of the disease have led to heavy leukemia, which has become a cause of death.

Salgado was born in 1944 in Aemores, Brazilian Minas. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sao Paulo. In the 1970s, he moved to France with his wife and made photography his professional activity.

At the heart of his photo activities there were social and environmental issues, poverty, migration, humanitarian disasters and ecological crises. Salgado's works were typical of black and white images, bright tone and emotional charges.

"His career has included more than 130 countries for five decades. He has documented the injustices of people and nature, immediately recognizable through black and white compositions. His artistic photos depicting human suffering at the same time were highly appreciated and criticized, sometimes naming the "Estze" of "Misfortune", "The Guardian said.

One of the most famous works of Salgado are "Amazon", dedicated to the preservation of the Nature of Amazon, "Workers", who presents "exit" throughout the world, where people who live in violence and miserable conditions are depicted.

In 2014, director Wim Wenders and Salgado's son Julian Salgado made a documentary "Salt of the Earth", which received a special jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
