In the big stirring of local and international news, the big noise of various events, there is a remarkable information that the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's decision will be established by an interdepartmental commission coordinating the Security Council Secretary. In other words, Armenia's new security strategy will be developed and adopted in the near future. The current strategic document was accepted again during Pashinyan's time, a few months before the 44-day war, 2020. In July, in particular, it was noted that Armenia is the guarantor of Artsakh's security. Has this document been implemented especially for Artsakh and is there a need to accept a new national security strategy today? The interlocutor of Euromedia24 on the topic is a professor at the American University of Armenia Vahram Ter-Matosyan.
In his speech, the expert noted that the national security strategy is a key document, some of the most important document after the Constitution to become the compass for the establishment of the national-state decision. According to the interlocutor, the weight of the strategic document is that it is enshrined in development directions, assessment of threats that need to be a basis for policy. And for the adoption of a new strategy, it is necessary to assess the current political and security architecture.
However, Vahram Ter-Matosyan stressed that today it is the most incorrect moment for the strategic document, as it is wrong to develop a strategy program during the pre-election period. This is usually done in the post-election period. The interlocutor also expressed hope that the ideology of the "real-Armenian" proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not find a place in a new strategy, as it should be deterred from ideological sub-layers. According to him, the new document cannot bypass the new realities of the world and the already established fact, the formation of a multi-world world order. Accordingly, the strategic document should answer the question of what Armenia's place and role in the changing world will be.
