"Hraparak": Son of Ara from Noratus released from detention

The “Hraparak” newspaper writes:

“On July 17, a tragic incident occurred in the Best Western Bohemian Resort in Sevan. As a result of a senseless argument, shots were fired, and 37-year-old Arsen Afiyan, a member of the Sevan Council of Elders, died. On the other side of the argument were Lyova, the son of one of the well-known authorities in the area, Ara Banduryan, and Misak Pashikyan, who was on the run before that incident.

As a result of the public outcry, the son of the Banduryans was arrested. However, there were rumors at the time that it would be short-lived. Yesterday we learned that the son of the criminal authorities had gone home. The Gegharkunik Court of First Instance changed Lyova Banduryan’s preventive detention to house arrest.

Banduryan’s lawyer Karen Batikyan confirmed the news. "We filed a petition, the court respected it, granted it, and imposed house arrest. We are in the trial stage, yesterday we studied the documents of the criminal case." We were informed that the preventive measure of the other accused, Misak Pashikyan, has not been changed; he is still under arrest. It turns out that people can be kept in prison for years on alleged hate speech or economic charges, while those who deprived a person of their life can be released."
