The whole world, including the United States, is interested in a negotiated settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on the eve of the NATO defense chiefs’ meeting in Brussels.
“Everyone realizes that the whole world and the United States are involved and interested in establishing peace, in a negotiated peace, in stopping the bloodshed, as US President Donald Trump has said, and this will require both sides to accept things that they do not want to accept,” he said.
Responding to a relevant question, Hegseth emphasized that Washington does not consider its current policy towards Ukraine to be a “betrayal of Kiev.”
