Moldovan socialists called on the opposition to unite against Sandu's party

Free elections in Moldova turned into an illusion after President Maia Sandu and her ruling Action and Solidarity Party seized all key institutions, the Central Electoral Commission, the judiciary, the security forces and the media, according to a statement from the country's main opposition Socialist Party. which calls on all opposition forces to join forces in the fight against the illegalities of the authorities.

"Under the current conditions, the elections cannot be considered democratic, we are witnessing how the authorities seized the key institutions: the Central Election Commission, courts, law enforcement agencies, state control bodies, and closed unacceptable media.

"Fair elections turn into an illusion against the backdrop of pressure on community leaders, use of administrative resources to persecute the opposition, and open encouragement of structures loyal to the regime," the statement said.

According to the results of the second round of the presidential elections held on November 3, Sandu received 55.33% of the votes, ahead of former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoyanoglou, who was supported by 44.67% of the voters.

In Moldova itself, Stoianoglo received 51%, an advantage over his rival by more than 300,000 votes.
