The administration of US President Joe Biden is looking for a way to make the TikTok social network available to American users, reports NBC News. According to the TV channel, the White House is trying to circumvent the ban on the service.
According to Euromedia24.com, the social network will stop being available in the US from January 19. Currently, TikTok has about 170 million users in the US.
Earlier it became known that the newly elected US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of issuing an executive order to prevent the ban of the social network in the US. In this way, he wants to gain time to agree on a deal to sell the platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance or to find an alternative option.
In 2024, a law was passed in the USA, which obliged the management of ByteDance to either sell the social network or stop its activities in the USA. Moreover, this law became a subject of controversy not only in the American society, but also in the highest circles of the government.
In late December, Trump called for the law to be repealed, saying he had "warm feelings" for the app because the "young audience" won the presidential election by "34 percentage points."
