9 representatives of Armenia are participating in the World Student Winter Games in Italy


The Student Sports Federation of Armenia, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, is participating in the World Student Winter Games in Turin, Italy, on January 13-23.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia informs that the RA delegation includes 9 athletes who will compete in figure skating, snowboarding, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and para-skiing.

The head of the delegation is Hovhannes Gabrielyan, the president of the Armenian Student Sports Federation, and the personal trainers of the athletes and Gagik Sargsyan, the president of the Armenian Skiing Federation.

Pyotr Chitipakhovyan will compete in individual figure skating, Kristina Dobroserdova-Alessandro Bortello Pellegrini will compete in dance pairs, Harutyun Harutyunyan and Zhirayr Arakelyan will represent Armenia in alpine skiing, Norik Tadevosyan and Davit Hovhannisyan in snowboarding, Spartak Oskanyan in skiing, and Garik Melkonyan in para-skiing. This year, 3,000 delegates from 55 countries are participating in the World Student Winter Games.

On January 13, the official opening ceremony of the games was held at the "Inalpi" arena in Turin. Snowboarder Norik Tadevosyan and para-skier Garik Melkonyan were the flag bearers. According to the president of the Student Sports Federation of Armenia, Hovhannes Gabrielyan, participating in the winter sports games is an honor.
