According to the already approved budget of the city of Yerevan for 2025, it is planned that the revenues in the form of fees to be charged for parking vehicles in the parking lot will amount to 2.1 billion drams, which is 57.4% or 0.8 billion drams more than the 2024 budget.
On this occasion, perhaps it is appropriate to remember that this "achievement" of the CPC government in Yerevan became a reality in 2024. with a sharp increase in parking fee rates from January 1.
The city authorities strongly denied our accusation of raising parking rates for fiscal purposes and claimed that the change was intended to reduce the flow of cars and decongest the city center in particular, and the capital as a whole.
During 2024, we and the members of "Mother Armenia" have recorded more than once that neither the flow of cars actually decreased, nor the city was unloaded, but we document that the joint price increase of CPC + Republic + Public Voice as a result, the only tangible result is the collection of additional revenues for the capital's budget.
Let's also record that the collection of revenues in the form of parking fees from January 1 to August 31, 2024, inclusive, was overachieved and by 36.0% or 490 million drams exceeds even the planned figure for the entire year.
In the end, the problem is not the unloading of the capital city, but making the tax payer the No. 1 hero, the taxpayer, which, by the way, is perfectly implemented by the city authorities of Yerevan.
What they proved once again by approving the same decision at the last session of the Council of Elders, the same decision that the RA Administrative Court recognized as illegal. Let's remember that from February 2024, Mother Armenia is disputing the decision of the Council of Elders to increase the parking fee for the Red Lines.
