179 people died as a result of the plane crash in South Korea (video)

At least 179 people were killed when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed in South Korea's Muan province. The plane traveling from Bangkok left the runway and crashed into a fence, Reuters reports on Sunday, December 29.

Referring to the video provided by the local MBC TV station, AFP writes that smoke was seen from the engines of the plane during landing, after which the plane caught fire, reports DW.

According to the initial version, the cause of the disaster was the collision between the plane and the birds during landing. There were 181 people on the plane: 175 passengers and six crew members.

According to mass media, 173 of the passengers are citizens of South Korea, and two others are citizens of Thailand. As Yonhap news agency reports, only two people survived. According to preliminary data, one of the survivors is a crew member, the other a passenger.
