For the first time in history, the Maldives welcomed more than 2 million tourists in a single year

Maldives will receive more than two million foreign tourists in 2024. This is reported by the Ministry of Tourism of the island state. This is the best result in the country's history. 1.8 million guests visited the archipelago in 2023, and 1.6 million in 2022.

"Many records have been registered in the country's history this year. The number of tourists who arrived in February of this year reached the mark of 217,000, one million tourists," said Ibrahim Faisal, the Minister of Tourism of the Maldives.

According to him, next year the authorities have set a goal to increase this indicator by 15 percent and increase the number of vacationers on the islands to at least 2.2 million.

The largest number of tourists arrived in the Maldives from China with more than 260 thousand tourists, followed by Russia with almost 220 thousand tourists.

There are 174 resorts, 855 mini hotels and 15 large hotels in the Maldives. In November, the first consulate general in the history of Russia started operating in the capital of the Maldives.
