Iraq's intelligence chief left for Damascus

Iraqi intelligence chief Hamid al-Shatri visited Damascus to hold talks with representatives of the new Syrian administration, Iraqi government spokesman Bassem al-Awadi announced.

"The delegation of Iraq, headed by the head of the intelligence service, Hamid al-Shatri, met with the new Syrian administration. They discussed the developments taking place in Syria, the requirements for ensuring security and stability at the common border of the two countries," his words were quoted by the mass media.

On December 8, the Syrian armed opposition announced the capture of Damascus and began the formation of a transitional government.
