The People's Party of Abkhazia will nominate its leader as a presidential candidate


The oldest People's Party of Abkhazia intends to nominate the chairman of the party, former deputy prime minister Shamil Ajinba, as a presidential candidate in the extraordinary elections scheduled for February 15. The political council of the party informed TASS about this.

"On December 26, the congress of the People's Party of Abkhazia will be held in Sukhum, at which the socio-political situation of the republic will be discussed and the party's participation in the upcoming extraordinary presidential elections will be nominated as a presidential candidate," the political council of the party told TASS.

According to the press service of the Central Election Commission, the People's Party of Abkhazia was registered with the commission on Wednesday.

Extraordinary presidential elections in Abkhazia are scheduled for February 15. Registration of initiative groups, parties and nomination of presidential candidates takes place from December 17 to January 6.
