Yonhap. South Korea is checking the president's call history

The Republic of Korea police are checking the call history of the personal phone of the President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Seok-yeol, as part of an investigation into the Dec. 3-4 martial law incidents. This is reported by Yonhap agency.

The special investigation team is interested in whether other key participants in those events received calls. The police received a corresponding order. Law enforcement agencies also intend to access the phone, which is used for closed communications.

Police have obtained a document that President Yun Seok-yeol gave to Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok before declaring martial law, according to the agency, which listed measures including cuts to the maintenance of parliament and budget formation under martial law.

The police interrogated 10 of the 12 participants of the government session on December 3. President Yun Seok-yeol and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun did not report to the police station. The law enforcement bodies believe that before the declaration of martial law, the meeting went through a number of procedural problems, taking into account the absence of minutes of the session.
