Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has demanded that President Andrzej Duda and the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party support tougher immigration laws in connection with the December 20 terrorist attack in Magdeburg, Germany.
Earlier, Duda and PiS sharply criticized Tusk's new migration strategy, stressing that it will hit the Belarusian opposition, not illegal migrants.
"After the terrorist attack in Magdeburg, today I expect a clear statement from Polish President Andrzej Duda and the Law and Justice party to support the government's package of measures to tighten visa and asylum laws.
On October 15, the Polish government approved the country's migration strategy until 2030. One of its points will be the suspension of asylum rights for illegal migrants at the border with Belarus. In addition, it is planned to tighten the provision of study and work visas.
