Lithuania has banned citizens of Russia, Belarus and China from serving in the army

Citizens of Russia, Belarus and China have been banned from serving in the Armed Forces of Lithuania, such amendments have been adopted by the Sejm, Lithuanian LRT radio station reports. More than 100 deputies voted in favor of these changes.

Now, citizens of countries where the government has banned them from traveling will not be accepted for professional military service, volunteer forces or other voluntary non-permanent service, as well as compulsory military service. If a person who is already serving in the armed forces receives citizenship of those countries, he will be released from service.

The Lithuanian government has confirmed that professional military personnel cannot travel off-duty to countries that pose a threat to Lithuania's national security, such as Russia, Belarus and China.

So far, the legislation has not prohibited persons with dual citizenship from serving in the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
