Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi discussed the situation in Syria by phone.
"On December 17, at the initiative of the Jordanian side, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrant Affairs Ayman, who informed about the activities of the League of Arab States after the last ministerial meetings in Amman regarding with the situation created in Syria and around it," the statement said.
As noted by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Jordanian Foreign Minister highly appreciated the closeness of the positions of the states of the Arab world and the Russian Federation, which is in favor of the early settlement of the situation in Syria.
