The events that took place in Syria were not unexpected, they were the result of the actions of foreign forces, including Israel.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed a similar opinion in an interview with the Lebanese "An-Nahar" newspaper.
"Contrary to the sentiments prevailing in the media, I personally did not find what happened in Syria unexpected. The events, which at first glance seemed sudden and quick, actually had their background and roots for at least 10-12 years," said the Iranian Foreign Minister.
He emphasized that Israel "in the last 14 months has continuously attacked the country's defense infrastructure in order to weaken the Syrian government."
