The issue of opening the Alijan checkpoint was raised in the Turkish parliament

Yilmaz Hunn, a member of the pro-Kurdish People's Equality and Democracy Party (PEDP), a member of the Turkish People's Democratic Party (TAP) elected from Igdir, raised the issue of the border with Armenia being closed during the parliamentary discussions on the budget of the Ministry of Trade.

Hun, in particular, said:

"Although Igdir province borders three countries, it only has trade relations with Nakhichevan. It is obvious that the free trade zones, which will be created with Armenia, Iran and Nakhichevan, will improve the economic situation of both the city and the region's population.

Although the Alijan checkpoint is fully prepared on the Armenian side, Turkey does not prepare its side. What is the real reason that the checkpoint is not working? Is your ministry working towards the opening of the Alijan checkpoint?

The deputy called to open the border checkpoints with Armenia and allow trade in the region to grow.

"It is known that in those regions where the border crossings are open, the well-being of the population is high," Hun emphasized.
