German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed regret that Vladimir Zelensky was not invited to the G20 summit in Brazil and called it a serious challenge.
"I don't want to hide the fact that I regret very much that, unlike previous meetings, Zelensky was not invited to this meeting," he told reporters in Berlin before leaving for the G20.
"I, like others, very actively supported inviting Zelensky to the summit, but the fact that it did not happen also shows what a serious challenge we are facing," he said.
The G20 summit will take place on November 18-19 in the south-east of Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting will be chaired by the President of the Republic of South America, Lula da Silva. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will head the Russian delegation at the summit.
