The head of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, Sasha Katvalyan, commented on the appointment of his wife and the personnel changes in the staff during a briefing with reporters during the session of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
The newly appointed head of the administrative district, Sasha Katvalyan, announced that he did not dismiss anyone from the position of the head of Malatia-Sebastia, and his wife became the director of kindergarten No. 86 as a result of an open competition, before his appointment.
Speaking about a possible conflict of interest and his wife's tenure, Katvalyan noted: "My wife became the director of kindergarten No. 86 through a competition, when I had not yet been appointed the head of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district. She passed the licensing stage, received the appropriate certificate, and was the only participant in the competition and was recognized as the winner in the written and oral stages. There is no problem here."
Regarding the rumors about the “personnel massacre” in the staff, he considered them unfounded and ridiculous. “Honestly, I did not dismiss anyone by my decision or order. When I was appointed and came to the district administration, about 10 employees had already written applications for dismissal without any of my influence.
Disciplinary sanctions were applied to some employees for work misconduct and inappropriate treatment of residents.” Regarding the situation surrounding kindergarten No. 94, Katvalyan reported that the former director was dismissed from his job at his own request and was appointed as a temporary acting director. And referring to the alarms about violence and fundraising, the district head noted that in the event of such facts, law enforcement agencies should deal with them.
