German investigators have found traces of DNA on the drone found at the Leipzig/Halle airport, Bild newspaper reports. According to the newspaper, the DNA is believed to match samples found during the investigation of the 2024 incident at the DHL logistics center at the same airport.
At that time, a cargo containing an incendiary device caught fire in the company's warehouse. The newspaper did not provide additional details. On the night of August 5, a drone carrying an improvised explosive device was found near the Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane on the runway of the Leipzig/Halle airport. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as a "hybrid attack scenario".
He did not rule out that the criminals could be "foreign states". The investigation of the drone incident was taken over by the German Prosecutor General's Office. The Russian Embassy in Germany called the drone incident at the Leipzig/Halle airport a hastily organized provocation, stating that it "serves exclusively the goals of Kiev and the militarist wing of the European political class."
