Scientists have discovered a planet that survived the death of its star

As a result of the study of the exoplanet named WD 1856 b outside the solar system, scientists have discovered a remarkable fact. It continued to live for billions of years after the death of its sun-like star.

The exoplanet is located 81 light years away in the constellation of the Dragon.

According to the study, WD 1856 b is a gas giant with a mass about eight times that of Jupiter. The temperature of its atmosphere is about 127 degrees Celsius, which is an unexpectedly high indicator for scientists.

The planet orbits extremely close to the white dwarf, about 50 times the Earth-Sun distance, and completes one full revolution in just 1.4 days. According to scientists, it was initially further away, but over time it gradually got closer to its star.

WD 1856 b is an important example that some planets can survive after the death of their parent star. This also suggests that in the future, after the death of the Sun, some of the planets of the Solar System may also survive.

Meanwhile, scientists are still trying to figure out how this planet ended up in its current extremely close orbit. Complicating matters is that the white dwarf is not alone; it is part of a triple star system and is accompanied by two red dwarf stars, each about 30 percent the mass of the Sun.
