According to BFMTV, the highest weather alert level has been declared for the second time this summer in the capital region of France. The channel notes that the highest (red) alert level has never been declared in the Ile-de-France region twice in a year, let alone three weeks apart. Temperatures in Paris this weekend are forecast to exceed 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit).
In total, the red alert level on Saturday will affect 21.9 million French people in the country's 24 departments. According to the French Meteorological Service, the temperature will reach 41 degrees Celsius from the northern part of Norvel-Aquitaine to the center of the Loire Valley.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu will hold a new emergency meeting on Friday at 10:00 (11:00 Moscow time) to discuss the extreme heat wave that has gripped the country.
