New declassified NASA documents mention a possible alien base on the Moon. The Daily Mirror reports, noting that among the 72 new files released by the US authorities was also an audio recording of a closed NASA meeting related to the discussion held after the Apollo 16 mission.
"Apollo-16" was carried out in 1972, when American astronauts landed on the Moon for the fifth time and performed a number of scientific experiments. In the recording, scientists discussed laser measurements on the Moon, gravity data and other scientific issues. During the discussion, a large hole near the Van de Graaf crater on the far side of the Moon was also mentioned.
In that context, one of the session participants jokingly noted that it could be an alien base or something similar, adding that the visible side of the Moon is presented in the next slide.
According to the source, this observation did not have an official scientific confirmation and was made during an informal discussion, after which the participants continued the scientific conversation about the features of the Moon's surface.
