Spontaneous protests erupted in Israel on Tuesday evening after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Galant. This is reported by the Ynet portal.
In Tel Aviv, several hundred protesters blocked the Ayalon highway in the east of the city and lit bonfires on the road. Hundreds of protesters also came to Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem. In Haifa, several thousand protesters blocked traffic along one of the city's central streets, the portal notes.
Earlier, Netanyahu announced that he decided to dismiss Galant from the position of Minister of Defense and appoint Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz in his place.
