Romanian President Klaus Iohannis congratulated Maia Sandu on her victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova.
"Congratulations to Maya Sandu for the historic victory," he wrote in "X". "The Romanian people stand by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in this success, which irreversibly strengthens the country's destiny," he said.
Maya Sandu was also congratulated by the speakers of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Marcel Ciolaku, and the president of the National Liberal Party, Nicolae Ciuca.
According to the latest preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), after processing 99.73 percent of the protocols, in the second round of the presidential elections, the incumbent president of Moldova, Maya Sandu, is in the lead with 55.36 percent of the votes, former Prosecutor General Alexander Stojanoglo has 44.64 percent.
