The USA will probably not start a ground military operation against Iran, similar to the Iraqi scenario. Washington's goal may be air and sea strikes, Ihsan Sefa, former military attaché of Turkey and former air force colonel, told RIA Novosti.
Answering the question about his intention to carry out limited strikes against Iran, US President Donald Trump stated that he is considering this possibility.
"I don't expect the US to conduct a ground operation against Iran, as it did in Iraq," Sefa said.
He believes that the US strategy may include air and sea strikes to weaken Iran and strengthen its negotiating position. Sefa suggested that Washington could try to resolve issues related to the terms of future agreements and the control of oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz in this way, among other things.
