Buckingham Palace will not interfere with the British government's plan to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III, from the line of succession, The Times reported, citing a source in Her Majesty's Office.
"Removing Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession is a matter for Parliament alone, and of course we will never stand in its way or oppose the will of Parliament," the paper quoted a Buckingham Palace source as saying. On February 20, Sky News reported that the government is considering the possibility of presenting a bill in the parliament for this purpose.
According to a YouGov survey, 82% of respondents are in favor of this move. However, this will require consultation with other Commonwealth of Nations states and will only be possible after all investigations into the former Prince of York have been completed.
