The United States is increasingly losing interest in its role as the guarantor of the international order. This opinion was expressed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, speaking at the Congress of the Christian Democratic Union, which was broadcast on NTV.
"The United States itself is increasingly losing interest in its role as a guarantor of the international order," the chancellor said. He believes that Germany will therefore have to assume greater responsibility and work within the framework of "sovereign political laws". "In the future, we will have to take our fate into our own hands," emphasized Mertz.
