The European Union is looking for a European replacement for the American Boeing early warning and control (AWACS) reconnaissance aircraft, Politico reports, citing an internal document of the German Defense Ministry.
"The original plan was to buy US-made E-7A Wedgetail planes from Boeing.
But a classified German Defense Ministry document seen by Politico shows that Berlin and several NATO partners now want to scrap that 2023 decision and instead move toward a European alternative,” the article notes.
