Politico. 52% of Britons want Starmer to resign amid Epstein scandal

A majority of Britain believes Prime Minister Keir Starmer should resign over the scandal surrounding US ambassador-designate Peter Mandelson, who had close ties to US financier Jeffrey Epstein, who has been accused of child abuse.

This is evidenced by the results of joint polls by Politico publication and Public First research company.

As noted, at least 52% of the British population believe that the prime minister should leave, and 19% believe that he should stay, but his advisers should resign. Among those who demand resignation, 47% said that there are other reasons for the change of government leadership besides the Mandelson scandal. The online survey was conducted on February 6-9, with more than 2,000 British citizens aged 18 and over taking part.

Before that, Starmer had again announced that he was not ready to leave his post, despite one of the most serious crises facing his government. It was related to the decision to appoint Mandelson as ambassador to Washington, who was later removed, and an investigation was started.
