At least 31 people were killed in an explosion at a Shiite mosque in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on February 6. Another 170 were injured, the police said. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The tragedy happened during prayer. Law enforcement officials said that the explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber who was stopped at the entrance to the mosque before detonating the device. Eyewitnesses also claimed that the attacker shot at the security forces, after which he set off his explosive belt inside the mosque.
