The minister's statement was made after his week-long visit to the USA, against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's threat to raise the so-called "reciprocal" tariffs against South Korea, as well as tariffs on car imports, up to 25 percent. In Washington, this warning is explained by the delay in the adoption of the bill in Seoul, which is necessary for the full implementation of the bilateral trade agreement.
Under the agreement, most US tariffs on Korean goods were reduced to 15 percent, and Seoul committed to investing $350 billion in American projects and buying $100 billion in energy, including liquefied natural gas.
