"On June 2 of last year, Garnik Margaryan, a close friend of the SRC president, former investigator and prosecutor, was appointed head of the Internal Security Department of the SRC. On January 15 of this year, the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia informed that the criminal proceedings against the persons arrested for smuggling mobile phones into Armenia were initiated by the State Revenue Committee based on the information provided to the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The SRC announced earlier that an official investigation was opened in the State Revenue Committee regarding the smuggling of mobile phones into Armenia.
This was preceded by our publication about the gold bars transported in the Yerevan-Moscow direction. And now the law enforcement sources of the "Zhoghovurd" daily report that Garnik Margaryan, head of the SRC NAV, was invited and questioned by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee within the framework of these proceedings.
In response to "Zhoghovurd" the Anti-Corruption Committee said that they cannot provide information on the persons being interrogated in the criminal proceedings under investigation. Let us add that they allude to serious disturbances in the system, expressing fear that the law enforcement officers are trying to clear some high-ranking officials from possible responsibility. We will follow the development of events."
