Armenak Urfanyan, who was posthumously awarded the highest title "Hero of Artsakh", already had the rank of captain at the age of 26, was the commander of the company on the front line. 2016 on the night of April 2, the position located in the direction of Martakert was subjected to intensive shelling by the enemy, then it was attacked by enemy tanks and hundreds of armed soldiers. All the enemy's efforts to penetrate the position are stopped by the conscripts of the company Kyaram Sloyan, Andranik Zohrabyan and Robert Abajyan under the command of Captain Armenak Urfanyan.
In an unequal battle, they repelled numerous enemy penetration attempts, during which the enemy also continued shelling. Armenak Urfanyan was killed by the explosion of one of the shells.
On August 29, 2020, Armenak Urfanyan was posthumously awarded the highest title "Hero of Artsakh" by the decree of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, and was awarded the "Golden Eagle"
