Former US President Joe Biden, upon leaving office, took two diplomatic gifts with him: a plane wreckage from the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, and cufflinks from the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, Bloomberg reports, referring to the report of the US State Department.
According to the State Department report, one of the gifts was a part of the A-20 Havoc light bomber. According to the agency, it was this type of plane that Biden's grandfather flew in during his service in the US Air Force when he crashed in 1944 off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The part of this plane was presented to the former president by Prime Minister Marape of Papua New Guinea.
Marapen also presented Biden with a framed poster, a traditional handmade bag, a T-shirt, and a "Birds of Paradise" painting.
