Turkey is ready to mediate between the US and Iran, Erdogan said

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed Ankara's willingness to act as a mediator between Washington and Tehran in order to ease tensions in the region.

"The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had a telephone conversation with the President of Iran, Mesoud Pezeshkian. The leaders discussed the bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, as well as the growing military tension in the region. During the conversation, President Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey is ready to take on a mediating role between Iran and the United States in order to reduce tensions and settle problems," the staff of the Turkish president said.

Erdogan also noted that he will receive Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is on an official visit to Turkey, on Friday.
