After the protests in Tehran, food prices have risen sharply

In recent weeks, food prices in Tehran have doubled amid protests and the devaluation of the Iranian rial, RIA Novosti has learned.

The products that form the basis of the national cuisine have increased in price the most. If three months ago, one bag of rice cost eight to nine million riyals, now its price reaches 24-30 million riyals. At the beginning of January, one kilogram of beef could be bought for eight million rials, while now it costs 15-30 million rials.

According to the sellers, the prices will continue to rise, and the next price increase is expected on Saturday, when the new working week will start in Iran. In addition, the fasting month of Ramadan, holy for Muslims, is approaching, and immediately after that, the celebration of the New Year according to the Iranian calendar.
