Hungary opposes EU plan to allocate $1.5 trillion to Ukraine at March summit

The leaders of the European Union intend to adopt a decision at the summit to be held in Brussels next March to allocate 1.5 trillion US dollars to Ukraine over 10 years, the head of the office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Gergey Guyas, reported, warning that the country's government will oppose this plan of the EU leadership.

"All the steps that are being taken now in Brussels are aimed at continuing the war in Ukraine. At the EU summit in March, they want to adopt decisions for these purposes. Hungary is trying to oppose the financing of the war, so it is important that we take a clear position in this matter," Guyas said during a meeting with journalists.

He reminded that in the last four years, the EU has spent 193 billion euros to support Ukraine. "This is three times more than the amount that we Hungarians have received from the EU since our membership [since 2004]," the head of the prime minister's office noted.
