In Vosketap, the pressure against the spiritual pastor of Saint Sahak-Mesrop Church, Father Artashes Hakobyan, continues. The Diocese of Masyatsotn has issued a statement about this.
"A little while ago, an alarm was received that today the administrative head of the Vosketap settlement, Nshan Hovhannisyan, and Hamlet Goroyan, the patron of the construction of the Saint Sahak-Mesrop church, visited the church and demanded the spiritual pastor Ter Artashes priest Hakobyan to vacate the church. They also informed that they will return in an hour to change the keys to the entrance doors of the church.
Such actions are an illegal and impermissible interference in the internal life of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and the service of the clergy.
We urge you to immediately stop all the steps that hinder the normal activity of the Saint Sahak-Mesrop Church and the pressures on the priest.
At the same time, we inform that the mentioned church is built on the land owned by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and no person or body has the right to arbitrarily own the church or interfere with the church's activities.
